Here's how I got Reaper to recognize all of my Waves plugins. Also included is a tip on how to have Reaper see only the 64 bit version of plugins instead of seeing 2 of each plugin - one 32bit & one 64bit. First step is to add the 'VST path' to your waves install. The most foolproof method seems to be to add the root path of the waves install. On a 64 bit machine it's typically installed here: C: Program Files (x86) Waves On a 32 bit machine it's typically installed here: C: Program Files Waves Open up the VST preferences page in Reaper (Options / Preferences / Plugins / VST). Add the path to the waves install. Click on Re-Scan.
That's it - you should see your waves plugins now. Note, on 64 bit machines you'll probably see a duplicate of each waves VST. This is because your seeing both the 32bit & 64bit plugins. If you only want to see one version of plugins, just rename one of the WaveShell dlls. These files are located in the Waveshells sub-folder of the Waves install. If you only want Reaper to see the 64 bit plugins, then rename WaveShell-VST 9.2.dll to something like WaveShell-VST 9.2.dll.DONTUSE If you only want Reaper to see the 32 bit plugins, then rename WaveShell-VST 9.2x64.dll to something like WaveShell-VST 9.2x64.dll.DONTUSE I'm only using Kramer Master Tape & Bass Rider plugins as of today, but they perform flawlessly on my Win7 64bit PC. That's cool and glad it works for ya.
Waves plugins don't have 'official' Reaper compatibility but they are pretty cool and worth the effort. For an alternative, what I do is based on moving plugins I use into three different directories. This works with the Waves plugins too, as I'll point out.
Each folder contains it's own set of folders by manufacturer. Three directories: F: VST Common - all of the VSTs I only have in 32-bit go into this folder, divided into folders as I mentioned above. F: VST VST32 - 32-bit versions of plugins that I have in both 32 and 64-bit versions, divided into folders. This folder gets a copy of the WaveShell-VST 9.2.dll from the Waves install dir. F: VST VST64 - 64-bit versions of plugins that I have in both 32 and 64-bit versions, divided into folders.
This folder gets a copy of the WaveShell-VST 9.2x64.dll from the Waves install dir. In Reaper Options - Preferences - VST on my 64-bit installation I set the VST plugin paths field to 'F: VST VST64;F: VST Common'.
This means read the 64-bit dir first, then the Common dir - never reading the 32-bit dir. 32-bit install this field is set to 'F: VST VST32;F: VST Common'. I've never had any problems with Waves plugins or any others that I can think of using this method. Yes it converts the Waveshell into individual, seperate.dll files, one for each plugin. There should be an x64 version as well as x86 in the zip. It allows you to place the newly created dll plugins into custom folders, and seems to run much more stable than the 'correct' way (ie just placing the entire Waveshell into your plugin folder for Reaper to scan).
The only drawbacks are: 1)It causes the Waves plugins to load a little slower. Each plugin would take around 5 seconds to load. If i load an FXchain with 6-7 Waves plugs, it took about 5-7 secs, all up, to load the chain.
2)Waves doesn't sanction this tool at all. They don't like it, and do not support it.
However, AFAIK, the tool is legal to use. Just to clarify, as I haven't had a lot of experience with Waves except for buying the CLA Signature Series. This really belongs in newbie land. CLA signature series has come as a Waveshell.dll file. So I guess if I use this tool mentioned here, i can split this Waveshell into all the separate plugins that come with this Waveshell, so each plug has their own.dll file, correct?
If so, then if i buy more Waves plugs in the future, do they just get added to this original Waveshell? If so, does just running this tool again give me duplicates of the original, as well as any new Waves plugs? Barksy: Short answer is the WaveShell points to where all of your individual packages are installed. For you, the CLA signature plugins now and if you run the installer again and add say the CLA compressors, the WaveShell is aware of where they really are. I can't speak for the Shell2VST tool since I don't use it.
On my Windows 7 x64 machine, the Waves installer puts everything under C: Program Files (x86) Waves including the individual selected plugin packages plus the WaveShell. What I found worked outlined above is to leave the individual plugin packages where they install and copy the WaveShell dll files for 32-bit and 64-bit to a location I reference in my Reaper Options Preferences VST panel. Seems to find all of my Waves plugins in Reaper no problems; sometimes requiring a re-scan after installation. Thanks Brian, I obviously hadn't looked ( or forgot ) about the Waves folder in Program Files x86, and i see what you mean, the Waves plugs I have ( a few more than i thought ) are all there. Thanks for the heads up on this! I have them all working fine, and yeah the waveshell.dll has always been in the appropriate 86/64 VST folder. I'm just killing time and wondering how this tool will work as i like keeping the dll files in appropriate subfolders in the VST folder in an order that works for me, however the Waveshell folder annoyed me.
In the end, I don't really 'need' to separate them into different dll files using this tool. Bhula dena mujhe female version mp3 ringtone download. Cool to know though. I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused by your terminology in this paragraph: 'First step is to add the 'VST path' to your waves install. The most foolproof method seems to be to add the root path of the waves install. On a 64 bit machine it's typically installed here: C: Program Files (x86) Waves On a 32 bit machine it's typically installed here: C: Program Files Waves' all my waves programs were loaded to C: Program files (x86). Just as you state above, including the Bass Rider plugin bundle that I just purchased.
Can you help me with what you mean by 'add the root path of the waves install'?
